I have a new pattern (for sale.) I have been working on these socks for Elinor’s Sock’s Revived contest. I have know about the contest for a while, but it closes tomorrow so I am cutting it a bit close. When she first mentioned the contest, I figured no way I would enter. I don’t do socks, but I had been wanting to do a “warm up” project to practice stranded knitting before I start my fair isle sweater. I had planned on Eunny Jang’s Enpaper Mitts. I quickly tossed that idea for a better one. I would design a pair of color work socks for the contest and get my practice in that way. Here is the result:
Sea Turtle Socks
There are two charts, small turtles for the ankle and a large turtle for the top of the foot. (I like to think of them as baby turtles and a mama turtle.) The ribbing, heel and toe are done solid. I worked really hard on the charts and pattern and have decided to offer it for $5.
You can buy it at ravelry here. The buying options are in the upper right corner. There is also more pattern notes and info. I plan on writing a detailed post about the design process and such soon. I was just too excited to wait until I could take better process photos. I also said I would do it today so there it is.
The photos in this post were taken by a great and helpful friend, Jeannie. (It is really hard to take good photos of your own foot.) Thanks again!

Kate – I actually thought about that one for awhile, I decided it was better than crawling up your leg.
Very true. They could have been swimming sideways around your leg?
I’m sure I’ve got five bucks around here somewhere…
[...] skies parted and angels sung when I got a message in my Ravelry inbox asking me if I was going to make these. And if I was, would I like to use Alpha B Yarn to make them? OH HELL YES. Behold. Future turtles [...]
