I am going to try to come to knit group today. As long as things don't get too crazy I should be there.

Does that mean you're coming to knit group this afternoon? Look forward to seeing you...and your new specs...and the baby gifty...and the sweater! I'm still knitting the baby's first sleeve, so no gifting for me this weekend.

Ask Steph about my dad sometime. He's definitely one-of-a-kind! ...In a good way, mostly :)

Susan - That story makes me feel better because although this is moderately embarrassing it is not nearly as bad as what your brother went through, and in jr high! I can't imagine how embarrassing that would have been. Your father sounds super handy though, having crafted indestructible duct tape/wire/stick glasses.

Oh, do I have a story about broken glasses! When my brother was a tender junior high-schooler and in the boy scouts, he once went on a camping trip during which his buddy accidentally stepped on his glasses and broke them. My dad, ever the resourceful scout leader, repaired them with some wire, duct tape and a stick that went all the way across the top of the frame. My little bro was mortified to wear them, but had to because otherwise he really couldn't see anything. The worst part was that it happened a few weeks before he was due for an eye exam and my parents wouldn't buy him a new pair in the meantime because insurance wouldn't cover it! I forget now if he endured the social agony of wearing those things to school or if he just went blind until he got the new pair (knowing my brother, probably the latter). Those glasses still live in the basement somewhere. In high school, he and some buddies attempted to destroy them by placing them in an old coffee can with some firecrackers, but the glasses proved indestructible. The lens popped out but the stick/duct tape/wire frame remained intact.
