This will not be a post of pretty pictures, or descriptions of yummy yarn or any of those nice things. This will be a rant. A rant I firmly acknowledge that I have full responsibility for.
I just played a game of find the size 6 needle. I found 1, where it was supposed to be, in my handy needle case I made (see the pattern in Stitch n’ Bitch). The other, MIA. I couldn’t even remember what project it would invariably be holding the stitches for. (Because as we have already discussed, I can’t finish ANYTHING.)
For background information, I have an old house. It was made before people had a lot of stuff that they needed to store. Hence, closet space is a PREMIUM. I don’t even store shoes in my closet. I have an organizer that hangs on the back of my bedroom door. Well, because of this, I have managed to condense ALL my crafting supplies (except Big Box o’ Crap, see blanketa post). They are stored in two large sterelite see through plastic containers. Oh, wait. I have another tub hidden behind the overstuffed chair in the front room too. Don’t judge me! Anyway, they are wedged so tight in the closet that I managed to get one out, after removing various other boxes in the way. I riffled through that one and went, “DAMN, now I have to get the OTHER one out and go through it.” So burrowing and digging noises were made all without TRYING TO WAKE THE BABY. I get THAT one out and riffle through it. Nothing. Coming up empty. Well, except for the lovely CASHSOFT robin’s egg blue yarn I found. Unfinished project, don’t ask.
At this point I’m just pissed that my house doesn’t have more storage. It’s 1370 sq feet. I have a front room that does absolutely NOTHING. You mean I can’t have some more closets up in this mf’er? Resigned to just going and buying another pair of size six needles, I start packing things up, and happen to glance into the first box. Lying on top in plain view, one silver size six needle. I grimaced and put the lid on the box, and when I went to lift it, the plastic on it broke, so now it won’t shut.
And, the baby woke up.
